My Tiny House in New Zealand

.........up up and away....

Circumnavigating the now empty apartment in the Isar Valley which was my mother's cosy nest for 22 years and the pretty mountain village of Lenggries, I sense a definite ending of an epoch. Never will I be able to share my reports and photos again with her.....

A small tin with some of her ashes travels with me to Skopelos where I want to build a little shrine high above the blue sea made of stone with the sprawling pink rose she had planted in New Zealand 30 years ago. A now rooted cutting travelled with me and rests in my suitcase ready to spread it's tiny roots

Dragging three heavy suitcases on the train to Munich in the pouring rain and waiting for hours at the airport for the plane to Athens, I was ever so relieved to be finally sitting in the tin bird ready to take off.

Soon we were soaring above the thick grey clouds and I was happily taking in in the Greek announcements over the speaker, my dream becoming more and more real.....a new life in Grace and in Greece ....

.........opening the way.......

It seems to me that there is a symbolic value to everything that emerges in life and therefore a deeper connection to the stories unfolding.....

Standing at the hole dug in the soft meadow in which the Bio urn with my mothers ashes now rests , I lift my eyes to the deep blue sky where a little fluffy cloud floats by.

When I was small my Mum and I used to always find this little cloud on a fine day and it was our special cloud coming to greet us.

From the lush spring green of the tall leafy trees at the edge of the graveyard , sweet birdsong fills the air , in the distance the rugged shapes of mountains cast cool shadows on the land and from my heart a heaviness starts to lift.

A new energy now released streams forth carrying me in my earthly vessell on a bright glittering stream forward , as though a heavenly gate has opened......Sadness transforms to gratitude , seeds cast into the winds are sprouting were they fell....

In the week beween my Mothers departure and the sinking of her urn, yet another opening had occurred on the island of my dreams.

Via some friends I had met on the ´´I love Skopelos´´ FB page , I was given the contact of a Greek/German man living there.

He kindly arranged for a digger machine operator to start the necessary earthworks that would form the access to my little stone house ruin high up in the hills above the sparkling bays .

Since I don`t speak Greek yet and the diggerman speaks no English , I had the bright idea to instruct him via Google Translate.

I outlined the work I wanted, sent the translated text to him and he replied in Greek with photos he took.

After four days , the road to just below the house was formed. Now it will be possible to cart our big yurt style tent, tools and other neccessary items up there by car....after all its at least half a kilometer up from the next inhabited dwelling .

I have a strong feeling that the the old little house , or ´´Spiti ´´ in Greek is looking out to sea with its hollow windowless eyes waiting.....
